Greg Kiss & the Feral Cats

The Feral Cats deliver a blend of folk, rock, country and alternative music written by singer/songwriter Greg Kiss. Most noted for his writing and vocals in Essex based rock band 4ft Pimp this site is dedicated to his other material, whether it be in the guise of acoustic gigs or full band recordings.

In 2005 Greg made his solo debut with his Holy Matrimony EP following the releases of 4ft Pimp’s Head on Demand (2003) and Freudian Slip (2004) EPs. This CD was made up of some of the back catalogue of songs which had never previously been recorded or gigged and features the songs Get Rich Quick (which has gone on to be a 4ft Pimp fan favourite) and Dearly Beloved. Recorded at Nightfly Studios in Southend, the EP shows Greg’s raw acoustic set with songs that need no more than an acoustic guitar and a vocal. These performances earned him comparisons to Cat Stevens at his finest from the local music press.

In 2006 as well as the release of 4ft Pimp’s Simple Pleasures, Drastic Measures the David Simon band was formed primarily to support friend, fellow songwriter and Southend based musician David Simon for live performances of his material. This led to Greg’s playing on David Simon’s Fire to the Sky (2007) along with fellow 4ft Pimp members Andrew Moore and Liam Ambrose.

Despite regular performing, writing and recording with 4ft Pimp since 2002 a desire to diversify in both writing and performing has been ever present and has in 2007 led to the forming of Greg Kiss & the Feral Cats. Initially this project has been constructed for recording purposes although in time the band may begin to play live.
